Speak out against crackdown on Chinese activists

Wang Yu texted
her friends, then she
went missing

Dear Tracy,

Wang Yu is one of 28 human rights lawyers and activists detained in China after a government crackdown last month.

Wang sent her friends text messages saying that her Internet and power had been cut. Then, she said that people were trying to break into her home. She's now being held under "residential surveillance" on suspicion of subversion, and the authorities are denying her visits from her defense attorney.

Wang is one of 233 people who have been targeted in a nationwide crackdown on human rights.

Amnesty is working to publicize the crackdown and pressure Chinese authorities to reveal the whereabouts of these human rights defenders – and grant them unconditional release. Please help us champion human rights wherever they are threatened. Make an urgent gift now, and we will put it to use to help people like Wang Yu.

Like you, these brave activists care deeply about human rights. By helping other people, they put themselves at risk. Now it's our turn to help them.

We haven't seen this level of oppression from Chinese authorities in years.

Amnesty is mobilizing its members and staff to flood Chinese authorities with messages and to publicize these abuses in newspapers around the world.

Please help fund this campaign.

In solidarity,

Jasmine Heiss
